The South West of England is a popular holiday destination for people from all over the UK, and with good reason. People visit the South West to make use of its beaches, warm weather, strong tourism industry and whole host of superb holiday accommodation that caters to everyone, whether they’re looking for hotels, cottages or a Devon caravan park, the South West is practically guaranteed to have it.
Once they’re there, of course, it’s the beaches that most people head to, and there are some areas which are better known for their beaches than others. South Devon is one such area, as it has a whole variety of beaches, from sandy to stony, calm, sheltered beaches that are perfect for paddling and swimming, to beaches where the wave is king, making surfing or body boarding a popular choice. There’s even the three English Riviera towns of Torquay, Paington and Brixham to visit, which offer yet another seaside experience all together.
Whilst staying in a Devon holiday park there are a few south Devon beaches that must be visited. Dawlish Warren, for instance, is world famous as a wildlife centre, and offers educational activities and resources for visitors. It’s also a popular destination for school trips.
Something a little more adventurous would be Burgh Island, a small island that can only be reached at low tide from Bigbury on Sea.
Those are just two examples though, and the more typical sandy beaches or rock-pool covered beaches can all be found in South Devon too.
