luxuryIt is now almost necessary to be able to access instant information in this increasingly digital world, particularly when travelling. Quickly becoming the best travel aid is the Apple iPhone that offers an ever-expanding array of applications which can turn a cross-country trip into feeling like a trip in your own backyard. A real-time flight status update is the FlightTrack, a popular application that can tell you if your flight is cancelled or delayed.  It can also give weather details and radar maps as well as gate number listings. Luxury travel can be ruined if you do not have the correct information to hand.

If you want to know safety ratings or study the aircraft models like the one you are about to board, there’s an app for that. But if your travels are by car then there is Trapster.  This is a free application that warns you of red light cameras and will show points for speed traps. Even radar detector in the area will be shown and will give you a warning when you approach one of these hazards. Your next road trip will be so easy when you combine this app with the Cheap Gas app that lists the costs and grades of the local pumps. Rest Stop app is for those will small bladders and it will list rest areas in the immediate local for those many stops.

stag5Organising a stag party is one freaking job! So many great ideas pile up but the key here is meeting practicality without cutting down on the fun part. A stag do works out better that way and tips do come handy, if it’s known which ideas to take and which to chuck out.

The toughest part is deciding upon the people to invite. Hence, it must start early. The first list should be made at least a month and a half prior to the big day, after which, scrutiny should follow. The ideal list must not stretch beyond fifteen to twenty good, old time mates.

Next comes the part to decide on the budget. There’s no problem if the soon-to-be-groom is a moneyed man; else, pullouts remain the only option. This is why the invitations are to be sent out only a few days before the stag night. Another way to deal with it is generating a common fund where everybody pools in an equal share. The amount shall depend upon what is planned for the agenda; if it’s a stag weekend being planned, the budget shall accordingly be higher than that of a stag night. It shall surge even more if it’s held away from the groom’s (and his friends’) hometown.

Let’s look at the activities: It’s not going to be an exorbitant amount if it’s only alcohol and a friendly game of poker; should the stag night strippers be included into the bill, then expect the budget to increase by another couple of thousand dollars. However, the only point to remember is that the strippers must come from a legitimate agency. If looking out for clean and healthy fun, then ideas stretch from playing golf to bungee jumping; from bicycle races to a day of fishing or even, driving expensive sports cars (on hire) on race tracks. It’s only limited by the power of imagination.

A stag night is incomplete without a proper gift for the groom. There are novelty stores that specialize in stag party gifts; whether you want to gift something that shall prove useful for his future life or would just heighten the essence of the night of vulgarity solely depends upon the group.

However, the whole idea behind a stag night revolves around one central point: That it must not be a bitter farewell to the bachelor-life; instead, it must be a celebration towards ending it gloriously.

wookeySomerset provides a wealth of tourist attractions, and so is a popular destination for family holidays, but one that has drawn attention for centuries is that of the Wookey Hole Caves.

The village of Wookey Hole itself is a small and quiet place, and is completely overshadowed by the popularity of the caves, which were formed by the River Axe cutting through the limestone hills of the area.

In the caves themselves, visitors can see a subterranean lake, as well as the famous Witch of Wookey Hole. The witch is, in actual fact, a stalagmite, but the human shape of it has given rise to an old English legend that a witch lived in the caves and cursed young lovers so that their relationships would fall apart. She did this as she had been jilted herself and was, presumably, bitter.

The man of one such couple became a monk, and tracked her down to enact his revenge. He followed her to the cave where she hid in a dark corner, hoping to avoid or trap him. The monk, however, knew better than to go stumbling out of the light, and so blessed some water, splashing it into the dark areas. The witch was hit with this water and instantly turned to stone, and has remained there ever since.

In addition to this, the old paper mill and other caves nearby make this area great to explore on a camping holiday.

northumberlandNorthumberland Tourism has identified a unique way to link it’s burgeoning creative arts sector to it’s every growing tourism offering. The Made in Northumberland Project (MiN) aims to encourage networking between local artists and the regions visitor attractions and accommodation providers. It is hoped that the project will allow visitors to experience & learn new art and craft skills for themselves and also be able to support local artists by making their work more easily available to purchase.

It looks as if Northumberland Tourism have spotted a growing trend at just the right time. Recent data from the market research organisation Mintel shows that 24% of tourists are now keen to learn a new skill on holiday. Based on current figures for visits to Northumberland this could equate to 2 million visitors looking for a unique learning experience whilst away from home.

The MiN project should allow Northumberland Accommodation providers to develop more craft based holiday options with local artists offering courses in skills such as pot-throwing & glasswork. These enhanced experiences add value and a unique spin to a providers holiday offering, helping them to stand out from the crowd. Whilst the artist also benefits from additional funding and increased exposure.

A series of workshops have been organised by MiN at three major visitor attractions during November. These workshops will explain how creative holidays can be arranged and will demonstrate what holiday makers can expect to gain from the experience. Those involved in local tourism will have the chance to sample the products and experiences for themselves which will help them to understand how best to market them to potential visitors.

In addition the work of local artists will be on display. It is hoped that more local artwork can be put into shops as MiN has identified a real hunger from visitors for genuine local souvenirs rather than the mass produced tourist tat that is prevalent in so many tourist resorts. For visitors that choose to stay in Northumberland Cottages the desire to get a real taste of local life is often very strong on their list of holiday expectations. Being able to take home a little slice of local culture gives them a memento they will enjoy for years to come.

londonIt could be a hard decision as to where to spend your apparently brief vacation. It would be good if you got to work for just three weeks and get your holiday for the rest of the year, but the excruciating fact is that it’s vice versa. This is how come it’s so significant to know where it is where you really would like to go, and what is it that you might see and do when you arrive there.

England is a must if you’re to expend your vacations in the United Kingdom. It’s a country abundant in culture and fine architecture. With historical landmarks such as the Stonehenge, the Clock Tower, British Parliament, Roman Baths, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace, it appears as though you would have to set apart a whole digital cam memory card for England itself. Here, you would as well get to see the stoic guards at Buckingham Palace that won’t seem to move regardless what you do.

England Vacation Rentals are in huge supply so you won’t have a problem obtaining a good place to stay. If ever your U.K. holidays were to fall into the month of August, then it would be a big error to leave out the world’s most happening festival. It carries the record of being the world’s biggest arts festivals. The term Edinburgh festival is in reality an aggregation of a number of festivals that occur in August at the same place.
